ABOUT OUR PASTOR
Our pastor, Rev. Anthony (Tony) Jarek-Glidden, has been with us since July 1998. He grew up in Lakeport and Wolfeboro, NH, and attended Barrington College in Barrington, RI. After working as a disk jockey in California, he enrolled in Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA.
Pastor Tony has served churches in Rehoboth, Lenoxdale, and Lynn, MA, as well as in Salem and Raymond, NH. He is married to the Rev. Dr. Susan Jarek-Glidden, pastor of Quincy Community United Methodist Church in Quincy, MA. He likes old jukeboxes, lighthouses, kaleidescopes, exploring New England, and getting away to the Cape whenever possible.
From the Pastor - January 2012
A new year, and a “new” sanctuary. Well, not exactly new, per se. It’s still the same room, but the new paint colors and the lighting changes make it seem like a totally different space. Many people have commented, “what a difference.”
I want to thank Artech Church Interiors for all that they have done to make our worship space so much more attractive. I also want to thank Rick Demers for all the electrical work he did in taking down the lights, replacing them once Artech improved them, and making our ceiling fans more effective. I especially want to thank the Trustees for spending all that time making decisions about lighting improvements, who might best improve the looks of our sanctuary, and color schemes (our December meeting lasted three hours, most of it trying to find just the right color combinations. Then we met again the following week to finalize those decisions).
On the 29th of this month, we are going to have a special celebration. It will be our chance to publicly thank all the people whose hard work and dedication helped make this remarkable transformation complete. It will also be a time to rededicate our sanctuary, and ourselves, to the worship of God.
Our guest preacher that Sunday will be Mike Cave of Artech Church Interiors, and “Keepers of God’s House.” You can read more about Mike and this unique ministry on page two of this issue of The Oasis.
I hope that you will be able to join us on the 29th. It is my prayer that our “new” sanctuary will provide many years of joyous, prayerful, celebrations of God’s presence and power.
Pastor Tony
