"A Growing Spiritual Oasis" in Medford, Massachusetts

From the Pastor - January 2008

Hardly any subject is emphasized in our society as much as love. And yet:

· Recent surveys show that a quarter of the populace suffers from chronic loneliness. It is one of the major causes of suicide.

· More than half of all marriages end in divorce. In fact, it has been estimated that one marriage breaks down every minute.

·  The number of mental illnesses has reached epidemic proportions. Every fifth patient who consults a general practitioner suffers from either a mental disorder or physical symptoms resulting from mental causes. Leading psychiatrists say that a lack of love is the main cause of serious neurotic disorders.

That’s why I’m pleased to announce a month long sermon series on love, starting January 13. In the series, I will discuss opening ourselves up to God’s love, loving ourselves, learning to trust, and being vulnerable. My hope is that together we can learn how to be more loving people.

I hope that you’ll be able to attend each week of this series.
