First Community United Methodist Church

"A Growing Spiritual Oasis" in Medford, Massachusetts

March 2009

From the Pastor

For the past two years, members of our adult Sunday School class have spent a journey through the Bible utilizing “Transformation Journal.”  Having concluded that study, this month we begin a new study entitled: “Beginnings: Longing to Belong.”

This ten week study explores the importance of community in the Christian faith.  Community is vital if one is going to live as a Christian   There’s no such thing as a “Lone Ranger” Christian.  During our study we will learn how God uses events and people in our lives for our spiritual growth.  We will investigate Scripture passages that provide the basis for each presentation, the objects that remind us of different aspects of the community of Christ, raise and answer questions that help put into practice what we hear, participate in group exercises, and provide ideas to consider throughout the week.

Sunday School begins each Sunday at 9:15 am and ends at 10:10.  I invite you to join the adult class for this important study.  It doesn’t matter whether you’re new to the whole “church thing,” or if you’ve been around for quite some time, we all have a great deal we can teach and learn form each other.
