First Community United Methodist Church

"A Growing Spiritual Oasis" in Medford, Massachusetts

From the Pastor - October 2006

October promises to be an exciting month at First Community. On the First, we will take the first step in our Natural Church Development process by completing together the NCD questionnaire during worship.

Also starting that day, and tied into our hopes and aspirations for the Natural Church Development, we will embark on a forty-day study that can literally change the way you feel about prayer, church attendance, acts of service, and even financial giving. By the time it’s all said and done, you’ll be able to see your relationship with God in a whole new way, confidently understanding how to live all the days of your life.

This church-wide study will involve more than just a series of Sunday-morning sermons. We will also read a book called “Treasures of the Transformed Life,” with forty days of lessons and insights that can help you define just what it is you’re really thirsty for—and how to go about satisfying that thirst. Copies of “Treasures of the Transformed Life” are available from the church office for $13.00.

There will also be opportunity to openly discuss what we’re learning during our weekly Wednesday night study. The study guide is available from the church office for $4. We’ll end the study together on Commitment Sunday (November 19), when we’ll have a chance to put our faith into action.

I hope that you will take this opportunity to grow in faith and stretch your spirit.
