From the Pastor
Our Conference encourages every pastor to take "release time" every seven years. In 29 years of ministry, I have never done so. Martin (our District Superintendent) has insisted that I do so this year. I'm trying to do this during the least inconvenient time, and have spoken with the members of the Staff –Parish Relations Committee about taking this time away in July & August.
What this means is that I will not be here for both July and August. Not all the details of this have been worked out yet (who will be preaching each week, for example), but they will be in plenty of time for the summer newsletter (which will come out around the middle of June).
I want to thank the members of the Staff Parish Committee for their understanding and flexibility in all of this. I am especially grateful that so many have said, “but what are we going to do without you?” That kind of support is truly appreciated. I also want to thank Luci Rexroad for her willingness to help pull things together so that we have bulletins each week, helping to organize the September newsletter, and so on.
